Leaf Decals

This idea was inspired by "Growing a Jeweled Rose." Definitely did not come up with it on my own, although I wish I would have because this thing has been a hit!  We've had it up for a week now and still playing with it daily.

I simply painted the branches and trunk of a tree onto our back patio door using some washable kids paint.

Gave them some fall leaves that I purchased from the Dollar Store.

And let them decorate away.

They have worked really well together on this project.  More so than others.  I was impressed! Big K is fascinated with the idea of falling leaves in the fall.

Our tree does have a little smudge since somebody decided to bump into it before it was completely dry. Oops!

So there you have it! So easy and loads of fun!

Fall Sensory Table

Materials Needed:

Anything you find outdoors!  We found pine cones, acorns, sticks, rocks, leaves (and I threw in a few fake leaves that I had from the Dollar Store)

What made this sensory table special is the girls and I went to an outdoor nature area and went on a scavenger hunt for all the things we could put in our table.  I was actually very surprised at how much Big K truly enjoyed this outing. It was remarkable the things she was spotting and the conversations we were having while on our adventure.  Little K did too but you know...And the weather was PERFECT!  As you can see from their outfits, although fall is here it doesn't quite feel like it yet.  But it's here and we are ready to celebrate!  Bring on the crisp air!

Rocks weren't really something I intended them to find for their bags but that's what she wanted so that's what she got!

Our favorite find..."Ball!" (no it's not really in her mouth, no worries)

To the squirrels:  "here you go little bud. I've got  your acorn food."

"I'm walking in the desert making footprints."

"Come on sissy, let me help you out of the dessert."

Pure Nature

These things were everywhere!  Why do I not know what they are called?!

Post hunt snack in the shade.

Then we took our bags home and dumped them into our table for some more fun.

The Early Days

Just felt like taking a trip down memory lane today and sharing some old photos of Big K doing some sensory activities before she was even two years old!  I can't believe she's going to be 4 next month!  I was so good at doing these types of things with Big K and feel like I have slacked entirely too much with Little K but let's just face it...  many things seem nearly impossible when you have a toddler and preschooler running around the house all day.  Maybe finding these should be my inspiration to get more going again.  Who knows???

Playing in shaving cream (still one of her favorite things to do)

Sponges and a tub of water is never a problem!

Finger painting

I've always loved this photo.  It's just perfect.

And she really can create something quite beautiful! =)

Oklahoma Sensory Table

Thought making a sensory tub native to our land would be kind of fun!  And even if you aren't from here, EVERYONE loves talking about Oklahoma, right?!

 Materials Included:

Oats
Magnetic letters spelling out "Oklahoma"
Windmill
Cows
State Magnet
Picture of the state flag
Picture of tornado sweeping through the land

There is definitely lots more you could do with this one.  I sadly have to admit that I've just been slacking lately.

She still enjoys getting IN the sensory table and she seems to always think things (in this case the pictures) are stickers.

Big K enjoyed the magnetic U.S. map that she could match all the states too.  And she did a REALLY good job!
